TFC – 28th February Playlist

In TFC on February 28, 2009 at 11:47 am

Program #49. OMG!! And what a night of glamour and extravagence it was.  The Diet Pepsi flowed like Draino.

Part of the plan, was to create a Mardi Gras of the mind – I hoped it worked for you, otherwise the full leathers were a bit of a fashion error….although subsequent events on Swanston Street tip the balance in their favour.

Next week the live and fabulous broadcast from the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras will mean TFC has a night off.  But on March 15, stand by for The Full Catastrophe’s 50th program. It’ll be bunting, frolics and careful typeing.

Now…unveil the playlist in all its manly glory.

And if we get lost, we’ll meet by the third pillar on the right in the RHI.

21st Century Life – Sam Sparro

Turn Your Radio On – Grandpa Jones

There is NO truth to the rumour that Granpa Jones is my alter ego.  Norah Head would be most displeased. Instead the old bloke brought us a lovely song of devotion and the wireless.

Bedbugs – Squrrel Nut Zippers

What Makes A Man A Man – Marc Almond

Nowadays – Chita Riveira & Gwen Verdon

The original Chicago cast members do it in style.

Vivace (Alexander Tcherepenin) – Yo-yo Ma

A bit of classical to offset my propensity for the smutty, profane and obscure.

Crazy People – Radioland Murders Soundtrack

A film I once was imprisoned with on a long haul flight – thank you Garuda.  Anyhow, this is a very silly song.

Stranger On The Shore – Acker Bilk

This was a big hit in the early 1960s.  Honest. And he looked like this

Leftover People – Alan Price

One Leg Too Few – Petter Cook & Dudley Moore

From the ground breaking revue “Beyond the Fringe”. In their time they were hilarious, filthy, difficult and totally off the planet.  My kind of guys – Enjoy more

13 Men All Dressed In Blue – Southend

As we consider life, the universe and the emerald city – the Newtown Jets rugby league team’s song gets an airing. Go the Bluebags as well as Rabbitohs, Doggies and St Pauli.

Let’s Go Dancin’ – Wayne Numan

I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

All The Things She Said – T.A.T.U (or T>A>T>U if you are a bad typist)

Shane A Tail Feather – The Five Du-Tones

Ain’t Nobody – Diana King

Murder On The Dance Floor – Sophie Ellis-Bexton

Take A Chance On Me – Erasure

Your Love Brings Me To My Knees – Marcia Hines

We Are Family – Sister Sledge

Got To Be Real – Cheryl Lynne

  1. Would like to see how someone pulls off “one leg too MANY” instead of the traditional “one leg too FEW.”

    • Less is now more, or rather few. A slip of the keyboard with the title of the Dudley Moore piece -I blame the curse of Spotty Muldoon!

  2. Ah, but it says “ON leg too few” instead of “ONE.”

I think I’ll just shut up now before we break into a Derek & Clive scene.

  3. Hi there,

This is Wayne Numan and I’m writing to send warm greetings from Richmond Virginia (USA) and also thank you for giving “Let’s Go Dancin'” a spin on your show February 28th! 🙂
Let’s stay in touch and thanks again!

    Wayne Numan
