The Full Catastrophe Playlist August 1st 2009

In TFC on August 1, 2009 at 12:49 pm

A day of calls for equality and some crumbs from the table.  A day of some more welcome rains in Melbourne.  A day when I got to the footy with a couple of girl friends and watched a game of monumental mediocrity!  And a day when  the National Eisteddfod  starts in Wales.  It’s a week of poems, songs and, from my recollection, a lot of not so cultural action!! Go on, – have a look/edrychwch fan hyn!

There you have it – such are the days of our lives!

Highway To Hell – NYCC

Power Woman – Mark van Dale

My Woman – Al Bowlly

The first two tracks are a compare and contrast exercise.  Songs from very different eras – one sampling the otheer. Yet a more evidence that “when it’s good, it’s good.”

Queen Of Hearts – Juice Newton

Swingin’ All Day, Swingin’ On Nothing – Chris Tanner’s Virus

Mississippi – Pussycat

Our Last Summer – ABBA

The Annivesary Song – Black & Blond

Funny How Time Slips Away – The Simpsons

Plus Je T’Embrasse – Blossom Dearie

Glamourous Glue- Morrissey

Love Me Do – Ausculate

Sister Josephine – Jack Thackray

This genius needs to be known about. His songs are deceptively simple and carry with them so much. Here’s Sister Jospehine en vivo.

Out Tonight – Rent (Cast)

Black & Gold – Sam Sparro

Evening At Lafitte – Squirrel Nut Zippers

Shrimp Boat – Jo Stafford

Atomic Dog – George Clinton

Sweetest Somebody I Know – Stevie Wonder

Just A Closer Walk – The Seraph Choir

Dress Like Gods – The Inches
