Where did August go folks? The last round of the footy before the finals and I am somewhat bemused. Of course, my eyes are firmly fixed on my beloved Bulldogs (with more than a passing interest in the boofy blokes who turn out for Port Melbourne in the VFL) and my humours will be determined by the bounce of many balls. To all of you footy fans – may your team bring you joy.
Now to a new guilty pleasure: “Google Translate”. It turns lingo into barely understandable English – very fun, give to it the going thing. Now for any Icelandic listeners here are my comments again:
Agúst fara alþýðulegur? Í síðustu umferð á footy áður en úrslit og ég er nokkuð bemused. Auðvitað, augu mín eru fast bundnar við uppáhalds Bulldogs minn (með fleiri en brottför áhugi á boofy blokes sem snúa út að Port Melbourne í VfL) og humours mínum verða ákvörðuð af hopp af mörgum boltum. Ef ykkur öllum footy fans – geta lið þitt fært þér gleði
You can’t say fairer that that. Imagine the fun we are going to have with this come Eurovision time…..

With My Little Ukele In My Hand – George Formby
Formby was a hugely popular English performer in the 30s and 40s. He specialised in songs heavily larded with double entendres. Most of the songs he sang were about willies – not to put too fine on it.
Be The One – Ting Tings
Surabaya Santa – Jessica Molaskey
Born To Be Wild – Steppenwolf
I Yi, I Yi, I Yi, I Yi – Carmen Miranda
Ah Carmen. She of the lavish costume and outrageous headgear. If you have never seen here, click on the link and feast your eyes.
The Revival – Sunrise Not Secular
No Pity – Jackie Wilson
This Could Be The Start Of Something Big – Bobby Darin
The In Crowd – Ramsey Lewis
The coolest of cool tracks. Brian Ferry did a version with a lyric, but for mine Mr Lewis delivers the hip vibe.
J’ai Peur De L’Automne – Jean Sablon
September Song – Walter Huston
Two versions of the great Kurt Weil/Maxwell Anderson song from the improbably named “Knickerbocker Holiday”
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme – Lee Adam Wilshier

A fab new discovery. The website is over designed to the max, but don’t let that put you off.
