News breaking from Wales that one of that country’s top rugby players has come out.
Gareth Thomas has played more times for Wales than anyone else – gay OR straight, and he has also captained the British and Irish Lions. He’s been married and had quite a journey. His experience is both unique and common – everyone’s story is something to treasure.
The full “coming out” story is here.
His decision has been welcomed by UK GLBTI groups and here’s some reaction.
Gareth’s sexuality was something of an open secret in ra-ra circles as reported here by a former Welsh international.
He is still playing the game for his provincial side, the Cardiff Blues. Here he is in action.
Da iawn Gareth!
Meanwhile there are reported of Premiership closet cases in English soccer.
