The Full Catastrophe – January 9th 2010

In TFC on January 9, 2010 at 9:58 pm

With the mercury rising it was time for some cool tunes to sooth the fevered brow.  The show was also something of a personal triumph as I was finally able to play one of my favourite filthy songs.

For more on the Six Word Memoirs, have a decco here.

All that remains is the playlist.

Read on, if you dare.

Who’s That Girl – Eurythmics

Shoes – Tiga

South American Way – Carmen Miranda

You’re My World – Cilla Black

Who Do You Think You Are – Spice Girls

Nuts – George Melly & John Chilton’s Footwarmers

Melly was a true Renaissance man.  Writer, critic, man about town and a very unlikely singer.  His first volume of autobiography was called “Rum, Bum & Concertina” – a full and tawdry account of his time at sea as a young man.  He wore amazing suits and was a wonderful rebel right up to his death in 2007.  A true original.

You Can’t Hurry Love – The Supremes

The Day Before You Came – Blancmange

Just One Of Those Things – Frank Sinatra

Hole In My Shoe – Traffic

Not Now – Later – Morecambe & Wise

Stone Cold Sober – Paloma Faith

A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall – Bryan Ferry

One Bad Stud – The Honey Bears

Keep On Dancing – The Gentrys

Opposites Attract – Paul Abdul

The Times, They Are A-Changin’ – Nina Simone

Rock Your Baby – George McCrae

I Concentrate On You – Dinah Shore

Here Come The Martian Martians – Jonathan Richman

I Can Dream Can’t I – The Mamas & The Papas

From Me To You – The Beatles
