Greetings from Sydney where the rain is wet and the locals don’t wear much black !
My early impressions after nearly three years away is that the pace of life is even more ridiculous. A moving target is harder to hit. The human landscape remains packed with very important looking people.
However, the pace of architectural change has slowed. There was a time not so long ago when if you went away for a week or two you risked missing the demolition of several dozen landmarks as well as a suspicious fire or three!
The CBD remains almost unchanged, the only hole is at the site of what used to be the big brewery near Central Station. As yet nothing has been built and the Smeg appliances are still in their boxes. Build it and they will come…but who will THEY be ?
That’s the GFC for you. I’m off to buy a black skivvy.
