The 2010 Eurovision Song Contest is bearing down on us at a rate of knots. This article from the Times is a good background to Eurovision and its secrets !
Now to the way the wind is blowing:
Azerbaijan’s Saufra Alizadeh is now at about 7/4 price to win the competition. Lena Meyer-Landrut of Germany is the clear second favourite, she currently stands at 4/1 right, that’s a shade down from 9/2 yesterday.
Armenia has captured the third place favourites position from Israel. Eva Rivas is listed at 8/1.
The betting suggests we are in for a long and somewhat undramatic night in Oslo.
A form guide is available for those who may fancy a flutter.
What is quite clear, is that the United Kingdom is facing humiliation. 80-1 is the most favourable odds I can find for this feeble effort. Cliff Richard on a zimmer frame couldn’t have been worse. Bucks Fizz in dungarees would have been preferable. Gina G in a balaclava helmet could have stirred the spirits more. Too harsh ? Nah….
So if you bring the sunshine, I’ll bring the good times
Just add your laughter, it’s happy-ever-after
I don’t know about you but that sounds good to me
Wow. Words fail me, as they apparently did in the case of the lyricist of this particular pile of musical toenails.
If you want to inflict the whole chanson catastrophique on yourself, here it is.
Not a preview, not a history, not like any other Eurovision program this side of the Murray.
Rest assured, it WILL, as tradition dictates, feature the worst song ever to be entered into the ESC process and some rare live audio from contests across the years.
