It is now a little over a year since I yielded to the gruesomely inevitable and signed up for “Facebook“.
I did so with plenty of misgivings and a few hopes.
Time for a FB audit I reckon.
*Renewing links with folk from important eras of my life – especially uni days.
*Getting news out – good & bad – quickly.
*Spreading the good stuff around – videos, articles, TFC blogs.
*Finding out new stuff thanks to others doing the same.
*Using chat to get to know people again or for the first time.
*Seeing people using FB to state the bleeding obvious/tragic/boring/cretinous.
*Seeing ridiculous numbers of “friends” associated with thoughtful people who I thought better of.
*Realising I have a ridiculous number of “friends” !
*Seeing a lack of self-knowledge in how people present themselves to the world (Got a taste of that with Gaydar etc etc!).
Nothing that I didn’t really expect.
Or to put it another way, for all the brouhaha about Facebook, it only reflects the strengths and weaknesses of us all.
