Urban jungle

You need space in a city.

It can’t all be concrete and bitumen and good coffee.

As I wandered across the Queen Victoria Market car park I suddenly realised that it’s a part of Melbourne where you get a break from the intensity of the tower blocks.

You can walk for a minute or two without colliding with much apart from parked cars !

So the space isn’t empty, but somehow it doesn’t feel crowded.

The scale of the place is just right.  Well, for me at least.

It’s an urban paddock without the niceties of a manicured park or a sculptured concept parkland.

As someone who is uncompromisingly a man of the town & city it is comforting to know that there are still places which are not earmarked or designated as ” open space”.

They just are.
