It was a night when – 38 years after the event – I suddenly learned an ABBA-fact that might have changed my life had I known it 37 years ago.  And there was a top Topsy, a magnificent Mabel as well as some mega Minnelli & gaga Garland action.

###

Hope 7 – Breakthrough

Old Man River – The Ravens

From The Music – The Potbellez

Touch Of Evil – Henry Mancini

One of the most stunning openings flawed of a motion picture came in Orson Welles’  flawed masterpiece “Touch Of Evil”.

Just One Step – Lessica Molaskey

From Songs For A New World – one of the more sucessful original musicals of the last decade or so.

Baby Won’t You Please Come Home – Topsy Chapman

Gorgeous.

Jeeny – Afel Bocoum

King’s New Clothes – Danny Kaye

I Believe When I Fall In Love You – Kate Ceberano

You Should See Yourself –Gwen Verdon

You Should See Yourself – Mabel Mercer

From the musical Sweet Charity

Ring, Ring – ABBA

Hello Dolly – Judy Garland & Liza Minnelli

It’s 1964 and a very young Liza and her mum perform in front of a London Palladium seemingly inhabited by enthisastic young men all wearing suede shoes. Liza’s anxiety isn’t helped by her mother’s somewhat rocky state.  It’s a disaster waiting to happen … but it didn’t.  Amazing stuff.

Four Faces – The Who

Crush – Jennifer Paige
