The Full “World Series” Catastrophe – 27th October 2012

In TFC on October 27, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Hosted & posted by Andy Bell & Hikaru Freeman

October ends with TFC giving a nod towards the big baseball goings on stateside.

At the end of the MLB marathon of season the Detroit Tigers are taking on the San Francisco Giants in the World Series.

Andy is well & truly on board with one of the teams – here he is reclining at the Nob Hill Hotel, San Francisco & lolling in his latest pyjama.

Hikaru thinks, pollen count permitting, that the summer game is well worth a gander … or a penguin.

Billy the Seal lived in a pool in Cardiff’s Victoria Park, which is across the road from where I was stayingnwith a dear friend. He was caught in a fishing net off the coast of Ireland in 1912 and was discovered when the catch was brought back to Cardiff docks. The animal was given a home in a pool at the park and became a popular attraction for more than two decades. When he died in 1939 experts at the National Museum of Wales examined the body and found that “he” was actually female. Billy is commemorated by a statue in Victoria Park & a song by Cardiff’s very own Hennesseys.
