The Full “Are We There Yet” Catastrophe – 1st December 2012

In TFC on December 1, 2012 at 9:54 pm

Hosted & posted by Andy Bell & Hikaru Freeman

The “Long & Winding Goodbye” continues apace – this was the 18th last TFC.

One of the themes this week was “themes”.  Then there was a particularly redundant edition of “Newsless” and the latest on the increasingly bitter feud between the two presenters over that missing roll of sellotape.

It’s radio with a twist, but the swelling is coming down thanks to arnica.

The Boys

The Chosen – Menagerie

Video Killed The Radio Star – Buggles

Burn It Down – The Dynamites (featuring Charles Walker)

Let’s Go Diva – Kim Hyun Jung

Un Colpo In Un Instante – Delta V

Lady Beelzebub – Oliver Clark

A Hikaru discovery who in the clip sings a song that was an Andy discovery while on holidays.  Strange, true and wonderful.

Strong Love – Smokey

Betty – Johnny Dowd

Seachange – Wendy Morrison & James Plaisance

Silent Rouge – Kingo Hamada

Typhoon Drive – Kazuhito Murata

Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone – Sammy Davis Jr

One of the great “all round” entertainers.  The clip shows his timpanic (?) skills.

Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me – Anita O’Day

Believe What You Say – Ricky Nelson

Love Is A Boomerang – Yoko Sakamoto

Paralysed – Million Dollar Quartet

Almost hung out 56 years to the day that it flashed into a brief, but brilliant incarnation the “MDQ” gets an outing on TFC.  In a Memphis recording studio Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash hung out together, sang some songs and became, arguably, the world’s first super group.

And Love Goes On – Earth, Wind, & Fire
